I know, it's one of my favorites and I always look forward to see what they come up with next.

I agree. That's one of the greatest commercial s of all time.

That crane mishap added about half an hour to my lunch break, trying to get around this block and deal with all the traffic + onlookers.

    ^ Great photo.

That CNN sign (not to mention what was done to the building) spoils the whole scene.

What's going on with the colours in the "H" on 2 Columbus?

That's the interior lighting at the restaurant at MAD.

Funny, I think it ties it all together. That big neon sign is a throwback to an older city that is quickly being replaced by monumental glass towers.

My how Tower One57 - towers - over every other building in the vicinity. I know there are a lot of 'super tall' fan on this forum: but I not sure I like the way that looks - too abrupt a change in height.

WTC Tower one is surrounded by buildings that gracefully 'tapper-up' to nearly the same great height: so WTC tower one seems to me much more visually cohesive with the other buildings in the area - looks much better. IMHO

I know we have all moved on from the crane mishap, but I thought I would add a picture from the madness.

I used to think so too.

The way I see it, other buildings will eventually level out the skyline, but this is the first of many. One 57 is actually just a highrise compared to what's been approved up and down the street.

The top of this building looks like a mess. Why it is so different is beyond me. It looks wrong.

And for what it's worth I love the CNN sign in #1550. I lived a block from the Circle for a couple of years and that sign is definitely a throw back, a welcome one in this case.

Derek: So was what Extell and SG showed previously, in fact, a massing model? If so, have you seen the actual tower? Is it nice or lame?
