Incidentally, the derrick is up (has been), and big chunks of the crane have now been removed.

I like the shape (and the height) of the tower, but the cladding looks a bit tacky.

    Facade seems stuck.

Seems to be slow going on the property without the crane. I didn't think they usually used the crane for facade bits on a building like this, BUT, deliveries happen on 57th st and the construction elevators are on the 58th St side starting, and I think, after the first setback, so I suppose it's possible they don't have any more materials up top, and they have no way to even take delivery of them at the moment. It's also possible that they need to install the remaining panels pyramid-style like the vents at the WTC, in which case they might not have all the steel up on the crown to do it yet.

So 'who' is buying pre-constucton apartments in this building you may ask: one news headline reads - "Chinese mother buys two-year-old a New York apartment so she'll have somewhere to live when she goes to college"

These multimillion dollar apartments will, in many cases, be 'investments' for international buyers.....

Wondering how many of those closings are dependent upon Cyprus Russian Bank Accounts?

ACK! It's taken me so long to get this stuff uploaded (which is strange considering how little effort it actually takes to upload photos with my kit). Here's this guy framed from a few weeks ago.
