About 20 feet down and no rock yet / lots of dirt...
Interesting, all for the once mighty dollar huh.
About 20 feet down and no rock yet / lots of dirt...
So, has anyone been able to find out what the building will look like when finished? The previous renderings are off the table, right?
Residents of Manhattan Plaza, across 42nd Street, have been informed that blasting to remove schist will begin Monday morning, February 11, 2008 and will continue for eight weeks. Let's rock and roll!
Eight weeks?
Oh, schist!
I'd say that sounds right about the blasting -- I noticed the horn-blast guide on the site walls (ie one toot for clear the site, two for ignition, etc etc etc). Going to be some fun walks to work!
I'm very excited to see this project rise, if the design stays the same. It could become the best looking tower on this side of 42nd, shaming Atelier and River Place 2.
The southern side of the site, towards the western corner of the block (41st and 10th) is to be dug to 70 feet deep to accomodate the shell for a prospective future subway station on the #7 line.

I spoke to one of the workmen today, who told me that most of the foundation is to be dug to a 45 foot depth.
He also said that the plan shows two 60 story towers! Interesting.
good work Buff!![]()
The eastern half of the site has been dug to a uniform level...
and on the left, several small square concrete pads were poured today...
scattered and different sizes...
for what? a crane?
Its all rumors...
Today I spoke to the President of the Manhattan Plaza Tenants Association...
AND,
She was told by Related that there would be ONE 58 floor tower (toward Dyer Avenue) rising from a 28 floor base building which would house 3 or 4 small theatres.
BUT,
No plan has been put to the City for approval,
AND,
Even after the foundation is laid, everthing could change.
