More interesting, it looks like they chose the glassier version rather than the earlier brick-y renderings.

29 Flatbush rising.Citypoint will do a nice job filling the gap between the Metrotech and the Williamsburg Savings Bank high-rise clusters.

Demolition has begun at 180 Montague. It will be 19 stories and somewhat apparent in the Brooklyn skyline.

That is actually a bit slow. Demo started a few weeks ago. Some lots are already totally cleared.

I believe 29 FB is topped out now. They've been lifting compressors and such to the roof for a few days, so the crane will probably be gone soon. 388 Bridge is prominent. I'm trying to work out if the Avalon will block it completely from my angle.

Quick Q for the peeps in brooklyn. Aerial photos at google show major digging for Phase 2 of that whole build at the Fulton Mall (http://goo.gl/maps/YfAak). These must not be super recent, though, so are their foundations and such over there already? I won't get to downtown brooklyn until the weather gets nicer, so I thought I should ask.

Permits were filed about a month ago for the second tower; 27 stories.

I see they included Avalon Willoughby in those renderings. Atlantic Yards should probably have at least two towers rising now.

As usual I could not find the thread for this project:

The angled streets and clashing street grid of Downtown Brooklyn will go a long way in creating interesting view corridors and a jazzy skyline (I hope). This in contrast to Midtown where 90% of the buildings are perpendicular to each other.

Dtwn. Bk. also need more towers of varying height. All the towers east of Flatbush top out at 400 feet or less thanks to councilwoman Letiticia James.

This old design of 29 Flatbush would have been a bit more iconic.

Maybe the residents behind and around the clock complained? Or the condo board decided the electric bill wasn't worth it?

The sky at night looks so empty without the clock. Also it would complement Barclay's center nicely. I hope they turn it on.
Anyone know if there is any office towers proposed in DT Brooklyn? Ive only been able to find residential and hotel projects.

The Albee Square Mall site was suppose to have a sizable office component but I think it has all been replaced by residential. There was a proposal floating around for a 32 story office tower on Adam Street and Joralemon, but no news on that in awhile. At least there's a decent amount of cultural and academic institutions expanding in the area.

It actually worries me how much prime land in the city is being used for/converted to residential and hotel space. We will never get those sites back for offices.

And where do all the people in these residential buildings work? It doesn't seem the amount of office construction and jobs being created justifies the amount of housing being built. Seems we are building some transient ghost city of pied--terres and hotel rooms.
