Thread: New Mets Stadium (CitiField) - by HOK Sport

I think you can place some of the blame on HOK Sport, the firm that designed Coors Field, At&t Park, Camden Yards, Citifield Yankee Stadium, and several other MLB parks. To be fair though, after the phenomenal success of Camden Yards, I'm sure a lot of their municipalities wanted something just like it.

Going to a ballgame in one of these parks is awesome. I have been to some of the crazy space ship looking parks overseas (mostly for soccer) and it doesn't have that nostalgic feel.

I am a die hard Mets fan and I am pretty fired up about Citifield. I also love that its costing $500MM less than the new Yankees stadium.

Good points- These parks are a great fun to go to. At&T Park is particularly nice, but hey after seeing the Beijing National Stadium, I'd just like to see a little creativity

I wonder if Citigroup still considers the $400 million chump change.

Fox News just reported that Citi is still committed to the naming rights deal.

They don't have a choice in the matter.

My guess is that Citi has no choice because of contractual obligations. When Citifield opens the economy will be even worse and Citifield will be a symbol of the frivolous spending and lending by the financial sector that is largely responsible for it. For the next three years the economy will be as bad as Luis Castillo.

Why not just call it the New Shea Stadium.

    The name is bad enough.

And if the Mets play lousy ball then the reactions will be savage.

    That's not a rosey prediction.
