Maybe when it's paired with this \/ it will look like a mega-liner beached on the West Side ...

The shorter portion looks to be metal panels surrounding the windows (ala the Atelier); the taller looks to be all glass curtain wall.

but we don't know what the north side has in store

Not that I'm looking for something literal, but how he got from that to this is a mystery.

Am I supposed to be doing something with my eyes, like squinting, or focusing out, so that I see the reference? Because right now, I'm very confused.

Well, there is the angle at which that ship is listing -- somewhat in line with the angle of the Atelier sister's facade.

Then there is a prominent line down the middle of the ship which could correspond with the bands on the facade of the Atelier. ...

There is also the steel grey-blue color of the sea, which is reminisent of the handsome and attractive metalic panels on the Atelier's facade ...

    Tortured enough analysis for you??

Perhaps we should send emails to Costas direct on this one ...

Or CityRealty. They seemed to get the reference pretty well.

They've got their eyes on us here ...

    OK, calling CITYREALTY:
What's up with the Ocean Liner references by Mr. Kondylis regarding The Atelier? The gang over here at wirednewyork have some smarts, but this one has us stumped.

Please, toss us a line on this one ...

    You can also add:

Please, don't go overboard with abstract architectural references.

Here's a building that takes its design cues from the nautical surroundings, and the effect is immediately obvious.

If it takes this long to figure it out, it's either complete BS or just plain stupid.

I remember shooting pictures of the empty site there, suspecting that something, someday, will go up there, but having no idea what.

That's ^^ one of the better views I've seen of that building.

^ How about that thing in front, though? Blank wall at sidewalk level.
