Your 6th paragraph was unnecessary.... I don't continue to read after that.

Actually, I'm done with this thread. Congrats on the new station, that is all I have to say.

You "don't" continue to speak well either.

fc, you're being very secretive. Where you live has a great deal 'to do with it'. You're raging about a train system like you use it every day, which is clearly not the case. Why does this bother you so much? Sounds like sour grapes.

    Edit:

Looks like he left. Even better.

OK, info on a meeting about the 7 extension (I did a search and could not find a seperate thread).

Mods, move this if you want, but here it is:

    ASCE Long Island Branch
    No. 7 Subway Line Extension

On Thursday, April 14th, Shawn Kildare of MTA Capital Construction will be giving a presentation on the No. 7 Subway Line Extension, a $2.1 billion program to extend the No. 7 Line from its terminus at Times Square to the area on the west side of Manhattan. With a new major subway station at the Jacob Javits Convention Center, the project is expected to spur significant real estate development, changing the land use and economy of the entire area. This presentation will focus on numerous planning, design and construction challenges of the subway extension and how they are being addressed.

The event, which will offer 1.0 PDH in continuing education credits, will begin at 6:30 pm and is being held at Domenico’s Restaurant Pizzeria at 3270 Hempstead Turnpike in Levittown, NY. There is no charge for ASCE members to attend; non-members will be charged a fee of $20. All attendees must register online at: http://2011-ascelib-april.eventbrite.com/. Non-members may pay by credit card online or by check or cash at the door. If you have any questions about the registration process, please contact Bill Blanchard at wblanchard@dunn-pc.com or (631) 288-2480 x2208.

Please see the event flyer on the Met Section website for more information:

    Thanks for the move!

I honestly did a search! Although I used "subway" and not "train".....

This is the one project that is NOT taking long and had almost no major issues aside from the sad loss of the 10th Avenue station.

Is it reasonable to ask the Developers to pay for the extensions , i mean thats basically what the 7 train is doing....extending it for the benefit of developers?

Developers would say that there would have been little interest to develop the land - and put it on the tax ledger - if the subway wasn't extended.

    Both are equally valid points.

Hey's that's really really awesome, great find!!

It's amazing how they built those huge cavernous spaces with no support beams

And it seems like they are tearing down the entire neighborhood!
Almost all the buildings in the area are now covered in death shrouds,
marked with spray painted boxes with giant X's, or are already gone, (such a shame- a lot of them
    were very nice).
