    Default Downtown Boathouse

One of New York's best kept secrets is the Downtown Boathouse, a dedicated group of volunteers who run free kayaking programs for the public. Our main location is at Clinton Cove, although we have kayaking available at 72nd and Houston Streets also.

We are open Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. from May through October. This is totally free, no catch, and the only requirement is that you know how to swim. Just walk on the wooden boardwalk to the left of the boathouse, make a right at the end and you're there.

    Transparent Canoe-Kayak

    The Transparent Canoe-Kayak
This Canoe-Kayak hybrid has a transparent polymer hull that offers paddlers an underwater vista of aquatic wildlife and waterscapes unavailable in conventional boats. Seating two people, the sturdy canoe hull is made of the same durable material found in the cockpit canopies of supersonic fighter jets. Easy to maneuver, the wide canoe displaces a greater amount of water for more surface stability, and the paddlers sit lower to the deck, resulting in better balance. Adjustable seats allow paddlers of different heights to personalize their leg room. With a lightweight anodized aluminum frame, it can be easily stored or transported to and from the water.

Edward, I feel a little silly asking an admin this question, but do you want to also post these events in Events?

    Default The Transparent Canoe-Kayak

About once a year I canoe down the Delaware River over a 3-day weekend...
The very last thing I'd want is for people to see is what I'm harboring in my canoe.
