Law & Order: Thanks for all that great info.

The Tower of Russia looks promising, especially the spire and how it is integrated into the building as a whole.

On the video is shown the Moscow City Hall building (on the right below):

Not sure this one works for me -- the building is a four-sided "M" !!!!
    (see info below)

This is much clearer in the video:

It looks like the Russians are in the mood for fun:

    Aquapark

Construction of an aqua park is carried out on the 4-th site. The complex will include some pools with waterslides and attractions, restaurants, cafes, trading galleries. The aqua park is connected with a mooring on the Moscva River.
The second component of the given project is a 30-storeyed building of five-stars hotel on a six-storied pedestal of a public zone which will consist of a restaurant complex, trading gallery, a fitness - center, a billiard hall and a night club, and also elements of a business infrastructure.

Wow, Moscow is just like Miami! Look at all of this classic developement.

But one area where it differs is that with all this new construction, the contrast between the new and the old architecture will be awsome....I'm a sucker for old Russian Architecture, and i'm also a sucker for the new russian architecture

    Zhivopisnaya Tower by Zaha Hadid

Giles Worsley on an architect to rival Norman Foster

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/arts/main...2/baview22.xml

Roll over Norman Foster - Zaha Hadid is on the move. For years deemed a visually thrilling but unbuildable architect, Hadid is now producing a stream of major buildings, and with her painting of the Zhivopisnaya Tower in Moscow, a residential development planned by Russia's Capital Group, she makes clear that her ambitions are as tall as they are broad.

    On the up:
    Zaha Hadid is
    coming into her own

The tower soars up from the ground, too many storeys to count, blocks of glass and metal trim angled against each other, with ribbons of concrete tumbling down and twisting to turn into roofs. There are strong hints of Mies van der Rohe's unbuilt Friedrichstrasse skyscraper of 1921 - indeed, the image seems deliberately to echo his famous photomontage, with its jagged corner tower. Perhaps that explains why for Hadid the painting is surprisingly calm and comprehensible.

Painting has always been an important medium for Hadid, but though her images are remarkably dynamic and powerful, they have never been easy to understand, which partly explains why she was seen as unbuildable.

All that is changing. The Rosenthal Centre for Contemporary Art in Cincinnati in 2003 proved that Hadid's was not just an architecture for small pavilions. Her dramatic BMW building in Leipzig was shortlisted for this year's Stirling Prize and, though she did not win, she has to be a favourite for next year with the even more impressive Phaeno Science Centre in Wolfsburg, also in Germany, which opens next month. Zaha Hadid is just coming into her own.

    • The Zhivopisnaya Tower is one of 14 paintings by Zaha Hadid on show at the Kenny Schachter Rove Gallery, 17 Britannia Street, London WC1 from today until Nov 26.
