They have definitely got the base for the second crane up.

I love this building but I think that leaving the apex hollow and not a continuation of the rest is a horrible aesthetic mistake.

Will this base and the base for tower three rise independently of the transit hall's base?

They may not all be built at the same pace but they are all connected, along with tower four.

It seems as if the transit hall basement levels will be quite a bit behind the bases of the towers in terms of starting, however since no heavy cores and foundations for tall towers need to be built (and significantly less columns and floors because of the large oval void), perhaps it'll catch up by the time they are about to reach grade.

Old but whatever. There are 2 cranes up now.

There's a large model of Lower Manhattan on the 2nd floor of the WFC. Just north of the Winter Garden. Brookfield is probably using the space to show off to potential tenants. The Beekman Tower model is soo off.

Tower 2's design is def the most striking (in both good & bad ways). When viewing from the north, the slice would look less jarring if it faced east. I also would've preferred cross-bracing here rather than on Tower 3.

Both the bulk of this tower and the design of the sharply slanting roof detract from Tower 1. It doesn't work with the other towers at all.

    Best solution: Taller Tower 1!

    Better solution: Shorter Tower 2!

Just kidding. But the heights are definitely not going to change.

This tower just doesn't look 'right' to me. Maybe the reality will be better than the renderings; but those have been numerous and of high quality, so I'm pessimistic.

One thing positive, and I noticed it while walking by that model at the WFC. If you move left toward the NE, the skyline gets a nice crown. ^^^

The top of Tower 2 is silly and detracts from the complex. The top of Tower 1 also looks absurd.

OK, so nothing will be changed...I get that. Given that we're stuck with this amateurish glop, I might as well wish for some cleanup...Tower 2 gets a new top, Tower 1 gets a replica of the original North Tower antenna, and speaking of Tower 1, it gets a companion Twin. And by the way, the "arts center" gets booted off campus.

I hate to be one of those people, but I think a twin-like variation (hexagrid?) of Tower 1 would have been far superior to Tower 2. The negative space between T2 and T1 looks bad.

    Ah well.

I have never liked tower 2, they should have eliminated it and made the complex of 3 taller tower. Ground level would also have improved.

In the model the top of 1 WTC really does look like an up-ended push pin.

And the face of 2 WTC rising above the great deco Federal Building appears overbearing.
