The fact that sales appear to be slow is kinda irrelevent, no? All that means is that the banks will get their money back a little later than expected.

And Trump isn't even involved in this anymore. This is a licensing deal. He already made his money.

Community Activists had no impact? Really?

First, there were only two lawsuits, not "zillions" that your hyberbolic imagination concocted.
Note that the first and only adjective the reporter used to describe the project was "embattled". The reporter seems to get it.
Would you buy into an "embattled" real estate deal with two lawsuits, two lawsuits that the Activists got the NYS Attorney General to include in the Offering Plan?
Would you encourage your friends to buy into such an embattled project? Your family members?
    I don't think so.

People get scared to buy in. Guess what? Project fails. Score ONE for the Activists.

Second, Community Activists had no impact? Really?
What part of "Community Activists got Christine Quinn to push the DoB to enact a Restrictive Declaration" would you like me to explain?

Would you buy into an embattled project in which you paid $2million and could only live in for 30 days before having to move out, and only 120 days a year?
    Of course not.

No one buys in. Project Fail. Score TWO for the Activists.

Let me simplify it: Embattled project + two lawsuits + plus Red Herring advising buyers of such + very limited use of one's property = FAIL for Trump/Bayrock/Sapir + VICTORY for the Community Activists

Apologies to all for the essentially double-post.

Couldn't agree with you more. But some people, no matter how troll-like, still deserve an education.

...but you don't seem to have an issue with a quintiple post. Use the "edit" option, it's your friend.

Trump SoHo Hotel Lender Plans to Put Property Up for Sale

CIM Group is Foreclosing on the New York 'Condo-Hotel' and Will Auction It Off

Remember Trump saying how he could go through the community board and wait 16 years for approval, or skip it and get his projects built? Ha-ha. Yeah, built, but bankrupt. That 120-day maximum stay that the activists forced into the offering plan, plus all the litigation, scared away buyers galore.

Remember how Trump, on ribbon-cutting day in front of the hotel, jokingly thanked the demonstrators outside for all the publicity they had created for him, and how he bragged to the press that it was 62% sold? Who's the joke on now, Donald?

Pretty much everyone knows Trump is a self-promoting charlatan, starting with his "net" worth which has never even smelled 1B

And in the end...the building is built, and not going anywhere.
Since it was built, I'd much rather see it being used than languishing like this, because a
small group of people still have their panties in a bunch.

Trump has virtually no financial stake in this building. Sapir was the developer and owner. They're only using his Trump brand for marketing purposes.

That's the case with most "Trump" developments. He just licenses his name and sits back collecting a royalty check

To all the doubters/haters on this thread who claimed that the activists' efforts at getting the 28-day restriction - as well as the myriad lawsuits - had nothing to do with ruining Trump/Sapir/Bayrock's scheme of a zoning end-run = ROTFL. It took a few years to prove our point, but the proof is in the headlines.

So now there's a tall, glassy full-time hotel in the neighborhood. Congrats at continuing to push up real estate prices by restricting supply?

    So, what's your gripe?
    The height is legal.
The material, glass, is permitted. It is not an historic district. Glass buildings abound in Manhattan. You got something against glass?

"Pushing up real estate prices?" In SoHo? In NYC? You're kidding, right? And this is a bad thing?

The lesson has been learned by developers. Don't try shenanigans with the zoning and never, never underestimate downtown NIMBYs.

Nevertheless, we'll accept your "congratulations", as bitter as they are.

I don't have a gripe with the building. I think my complaint is that the local NIMBYs are THE WORST. I'd happily use more colorful language to describe them off the board. But zoning is not some dictate handed down by God. It's a human construct easily modifiable by humans. It IS the last bastion for the wicked and lazy, but even that can't last forever.
