The latest to be rising just west of Eighth between 39th / 40th is yet another gem from Kaufman.

It's at 309-313 West 39th, clad in black brick and set to rise to 39 stories. It just got slapped with a STOP WORK ORDER:

POWER SURGE IN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM OF TOWER CRANE AND IT ISUNABLE TO HOIST OR LOWER LOADS. STRUCTURAL STABILITY NOT AFFECTED
Part of the McSam Midtown Hotel Empire

Another Kaufman / McSam is inching closer to Approval at DOB (building plan not yet Approved, but a Boiler for New Hotel got the OK on 5.27.09), this one also on the west side of Eighth between 39th / 40th at 308 W 40 (it will back up to C+K's new black one on W 39).

Now it's planned to go up to 14 stories on the one lot, but there is a double-wide parking lot next door at 310 - 312 W 40th, so who knows what magic Mr. Chang will work on this, his very own super block of hospitality.

I can see the back of these bldgs with the nightly light show. It is unbelievable that they are permitted to do this. It looks like a cheap light show from the 60s. ICH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Department of Finance shows no recent transfers of property for any of the lots along Eighth Avenue between W 39th <> W 40th on either side of the Avenue.

Hmmm..I don't think its any of those listed. I'm asking because I heard my company just got the project to build. The only other detail I know is that Related is to be the developer.

The entire blockfront on the west side of Eighth between 39th <> 40th could go IMHO -- now it's just a string of low rise tax payers. Something Big + Well Designed on all those lots would certainly help to hide the McSam-O-Rama further to the west.
