There is retail space tough. I think I have an idea of what is going on there. Just maybe, but can't be sure.

Well, since they are 'trump' buildings, the retail management are probably charging over the top rents for that location. But no smart retailer will go in since they can probably pay the same rents along broadway (hence more exposure)

Which brings me to another point. There is just not alot of foot or car traffic along freedom place. Retailers know that, so tey are probably reluctant to have retail there. Again keep in mind that Freedom Place goes for 4 blocks. The only people that might buy there are the ones that live in those buildings. Not most people in the neighborhood.

So maybe these retail managements whatever, should lower the rents, (like Brooklyn rents, not Manattan rents) and just maybe something better will pop in those reatil spaces. Just maybe.

So let me get this straight.
Better to leave the stores empty than to have them occupied by stores paying lower rents?
Those property management companies need to go back to business school.

There was a fairly large (but somewhat low-end) grocery store along West End Ave @ 69th / 70th St. a number of years ago.

    Is that gone?

Located just to the north of Millennium Point, which contains a Ritz-Carlton Hotel and condominium apartments, it is located at 30 West Street at the intersection of Little West Street. Millennium Point is the southernmost building at Battery Park City overlooking the harbor and the Statue of Liberty. While it will partially obscure some views to the south at Millennium Tower Residences, the new building still will have spectacular views of the skylines in Lower Manhattan, Brooklyn and Jersey City.

Yes it is gone. Infact the whole building that house that supermarket and other stores and restaurants has been demolished. There is an empty lot there. Plans are to sell the lot to a developer.

    Default millenium tower

anyone know anything about this complex? looks like construction is complete and i see a number of listings of people who are trying to sell their current apts. dont know how much apts go for down in battery park area normally.. but it seems like a lot of these apts for sale are about 1200 sq foot for river views and decent size. also doesnt seem to have the superhigh batterypark taxes you normally see..

    just interesting.
