There should be a tower in that spot, not some 4-story nonsense (and it doesn't even fill out its lot either).

Even the freaking ads will be taller than the actual building. Retarded.

No doubt the signage up top here will give the impression of a tower. Just as the signage to the east of the W Hotel (the ARGENT ad, above The Roxy Deli) is just a cage of steel with signage on the exterior above a small structure.

After the HoJo's on this site came down here was confusion over the property line between the Lunt Fontanne Theater (where The Little Mermaid is now playing). Now that the steel is up you can see what appears to be about an 8' separation between the new structure and the theater.

Alot of people are questioning why the building isn't more than 4 storeys. I'm sure if the developer could build more than 4 storeys he would however I'm positive all the air-rights were purchased for a neighboring skyscraper, perhaps the W? and as the law goes once all the air-rights are purchased you can only build as big as the previous building.

I was just thinking that. Any developer worth their salt would have built higher in such a location as it makes more economic sense. I'm sure it was not their choice to build such a shorty.

Did we ever figure out why they didn't use the entire lot for this?

They've now filled out the eastern side of the lot (next to the Lunt Fontanne Theater) with a continuation of the ~ 4 story retail space. Not sure why they built that as a second stage. Perhaps because they were more focused on getting the revenue-friendly signage structure up and ready.
