Professional Theater Summer Camp for kids 10-14 (Manhattan W 30th Street)
Reply to: lorilaster@urbanstages.org Urban Stages Theatre Company ("Ah, My Dear Andersen", "The Snow Queen") announces its second Annual Summer Theatre Camp for kids. Spend the summer creating your own theatre piece, to be presented onstage at Urban Stages Theatre! From July 5th through August 4th, kids age 10-14 will act, sing, dance, do mime, and write and perform their own play at our theatre, 259 West 30th Street, New York. With only up to 15 students in the camp, 5 teachers, 3 teaching assistants, and 5 weeks -- our students are showered with personal attention from the some of the leading American theatre teaching artists, virtually all of whom have worked as performers on Broadway and teach in our acclaimed theatre outreach program. Tuition for the five-week program is only $1,800, thanks to the generous support from the P.J. Sharp Foundation (that's only $360 per week). Words from a proud parent Nancy Pelosi to Urban Stages’ Summer Theatre Camp 2005: "We just watched the video of the production from August and it brought tears to my eyes again. What was accomplished in such a short period of time was overwhelming. The last part with the song and signing was very special and emotional. I just wanted to say THANK YOU for your support and in helping to make the theatre camp happen." This program is a perfect way to spend the summer, make new friends, and develop a lifelong love of the arts. GOALS OF PROGRAM: * To provide fun, engaging, creative learning experiences. * To help develop self-esteem and respect for peers. * To encourage young people to interact and relate with others in a safe, supportive atmosphere. * To expand students' ideas of what art is and can be. * To help to build a lifelong love of the arts. * To provide an understanding of the roles necessary to mount a theatrical production. To apply, please contact us at 212-421-1380, email: summer@urbanstages.org; or visit www.urbanstages.org for more information.
