Maki will be taller than AIG as well?
In that rendering the Maki tower looks like a massive bore.

Yes. Also taller than 8 Spruce and Citibank tower.
And 2 WTC just looks massively ridiculous.
Maybe they are trying to recreate the same massiveness and gargantuan stamina that the former towers once had. They WERE huge.
From the window I popped open at the Hilton.

Great shots. Zoom out further and this almost looks like a processor chip.
Forgive my ignorance, but why the sea of what appears to plywood in those images? Are they supports or forms for an imminent pour?
I think they lay that on top of the supports, put the rebar on top, and then pour the cement. Someone in construction can feel free to correct me.
And whoever is the foreman at Tower 3 appears to be the most anal foreman I've ever seen. Everything has its place. Very different compared to the others.

Video of the 3 WTC crane at work:
Some rebar's been placed on the SW corner. Anticipate concrete soon...
This is following the construction style of 4 WTC, right?
What's going on with that rectangular depression at the NW corner? It looked like they were filling it with rebar last week, but now it's all gone.
This tower is supposed to go core first like 11 Times Square. They have already raised the east section of the core forms to the 3rd level.
Didn't WTC 1 go core first for several stories, and then started adding steel once the lobby level was complete? That approach seems possible on tower 3, but going the way of 11 TS seems a bit difficult given the magnitude of this tower.
It's not so much magnitude (the Shard in London is core first), but willingness of the labor involved to agree to having forms/etc above their heads while working. It was always considered safer to go steel first for that reason. Even so, a number of buildings, including 11TS, have gone core first in NYC now, and so times they are a changing. It's much faster to go core first. You can go 3 days a floor on the core because there's no steel in the way and its just set time. We've seen numerous pauses at 1WTC now because the steel can't go any further above the core and there is catching up to do.
