3WTC 2.0 vs 3.0. Not confirmed, but it appears it's now about ~80 feet shorter after the removal of several mechanical floors.

Will the exoskeleton / diagonal bracing be exposed & treated steel (like the Renzo Piano NY Times building) or will it have cladding over structural steel?

Man, do I love this building. Hopefully this hottie gets tower 7 glass, and not tower 2 glass.

There will be cladding. You can see the facade panels on the large official renders. I chose to emulate stainless steel, like that on Tower 1, as opposed to the more diffuse reflectivity of anodized aluminum.

Mmm that would mix things up a bit. Tower 2's glass is quite different from the others, is it not? It looks "busier."

Huh? Tower 2 will have glass largely similar to 1 & 7, as will 3. Only Tower 4 has the special glass.

    A few more.

The setbacks/balconies. Best outdoor spot in the city.

Does this show 3 WTC at the lower height (minus the ~ 80' noted by STR)?

Tower 3 looks a bit dinky and more delicate than its peers. Also, not sure if it's just a correction from the initial rendering or an actual height increase, but tower's 2 and 4 are slightly taller.

The projections up top look chunkier in the newer & shorter version, not as elegant as before (but then that could be said about a lot of the changes) ...

I doubt it, that one is from dBox. There's two sets of official renders out, the dBox ones commissioned by Silverstein, and the ones commissioned by Rogers Stirk. There are several irreconcilable differences between them. I think the RRS renders are more accurate, as they would be using them during the design process to help flesh out ideas. That's what I've based my model on.

Also, why would RRS have their people go out of their way to modify things?

The top most portion had a floor removed. The spires don't taper either. I believe that is what you're picking up on.

It's the lack of tapering that bothers me most.

I thought T2 had distinctive vertical mullions. I guess I was wrong.

The previous design of 3 WTC looked like some fantastic piece of modern machinery.

The new version looks more like a reject from some 30 year old Frigidaire.
