What a massive shame for the city if it took that long to complete the site. Ugh! That's why I wanted the twin towers (Foster) proposal. Only 2 towers to build, not 4. Just kidding, I wanted it because it was by far the most impressive proposal out there in terms of scale and design.

I was walking by this site today and I noticed how close the core of tower 3 is to the edge of tower 4, after tower 3's curtain wall gets put up, i cant imagine in being much more than 15 feet or so away from the edge of tower 4. That seems awfully close no?

Scale down that way is really deceptive. Everything is so huge that it might be what you perceive as 15' is more like 50'.

I have a hard time visualizing what we are looking at with 3 WTC. Is the concrete box the core or is that the footprint?

I'm not too well versed, but I think it's the core. The core is rising first, then the structure will surround it I believe.

The concrete is just the core. The full footprint of the building can be made out in the top photo in #924. It covers almost all of the black surface (save for a narrow area at the top, which is narrow Cortlandt Street, between 3 WTC & 4 WTC). The west face of 3 WTC will pretty much line up with the west face of 4 WTC.

Yes... I was sure of it. Now let's hope that the core isn't all that we get for another 10 years!!!!!!

I am pretty sure the building will be complete, footprint, sidewalks and all, before construction is stopped, if ever.

So I was scoping out the construction cams, and it looks like they continue to raise the eastern crane (inside the core), even though it looks like the core is getting closer and closer to it. I guess it's not clear, from this, when the core will actually stop (if it does), although I suspect that the other crane will get moved once the actual floors start to rise.
