Tower really surprised me. Great Asian zen feel to this tower, very simple yet profound at the same time.

You can see the Maki relationship between 4WTC and 51 Astor Pl in this color shot.

    An absolutely fantastic building.

That WTC Tower one reflection on the curtain wall of 150 Greenwich looks amazing in that photo: and is also a pretty good indication of the quality & precision of the window panel installation as well. That glazing job is as near perfect as it gets; the building practically looks monolithic. WTC tower 4 is the best of the entire WTC complex of buildings: bar none.

I don't recall anything being changed from this building's design, unlike the other buildings. Maybe 2 WTC might escape as well.

Not sure if it counts as a design change, but wasn't it supposed to be more of an eggshell/nonreflective sheen originally? It has definitely gone full on mirror in the interim. In any event, this is a great tower. I really like it. I can't wait to see it completely glassed.

Yes, I recall seeing something about a 'matt finish' on the glass - http://wirednewyork.com/forum/showth...l=1#post357709

That being about 200 posts ago.....LOL

    Quietly elegant.

Not as elegant as 7, but this tower has actually turned out to be quite nice. For me its best quality is how it is right in front of 1 liberty though.

    Ha, so true.

Singer and City Investing replaced by a tower with as much charm as an upturned shipping container. =(

Would this tower's worst quality be blocking singer if it were still there?

If the Singer were still there, due to the reflectivity of 4WTC we'd have two Singer buildings. The tower might have been very different with the Singer building still there. I think a lot of the bulk of 4 is to counterbalance 1 Liberty.

No, it is to fit a certain amount of office space under the height dictated by the masterplan.
