Even if possible, I don't see a good end game in that. The PA cancels its lease to occupy tower 4, and moves into tower 1.

I'm sure they are Larry Silverstein or a high member of the Port Authority.
I was on every crane at the world trade center, ive worked for tishman, bovis, pheonix, DCM, Cornell, EECruz,......... The word as it stands right now is that the concrete contractor " Rogers" is not proceeding above street level til further notice.

Cat, any info to the reason for the stoppage?

I hope this is just because of the arbitration and not because Silverstein is flat broke.

From what i have been hearing its a money issue. They are putting more focus on Perini starting the work under the 1 and 9. So the PATH terminal and the remaining buildings can be brought up to street level.

So the entire site will be built to grade and then they'll decide what to do? Going to look gorgeous for a year or more, then.

I heard the same thing as CAT235D, but to clarify, T4 isn't going higher than street level, temporarily. There is still plenty of work to do beneath street level and in the other Silverstein locations until they get final word on which other tower or towers will go next, and when. On the other hand, it means we're still unsure of what will happen next.

No matter what they have to get to street level completely around the site to support the slurry wall. The economy will decide when they rise up beyond that.

Great! I wasnt looking forward to this project anyway. Hopefully it doesn't get built, they'll realize this is one of the most important sites in the world and redesign that big pile of boring.

Serious question: how do you feel about towers 2 and 3?

I like them. Some thought was actually put into their design.

I agree, instead of giant holes in the ground or incomplete structures.

Steel is still scheduled to arrive on site next month for the superstructure above ground, though the pace has definitely slowed, but officially the structure is supposed to keep rising. We'll see.

How about the second tower crane or this "new" crawler crane that is supposed to be arriving?
