    Thats nothing, i have seen huge columns in the basement that had voids so big if you cut out the rebar you could walk thru.

    What would cause that: not sufficiently vibrating the wet mix when it is freshly poured into the form - that my guess anyway.

    Pouring it too stiff, Little or no vibration, Very hot day with no retarder in the mix causing it to setup to quick.

    Slow progress compared to 1WTC. I guess they have to do "something else (= pouring, reinforcing?)" before new steel can rise. The tower has been stuck on the 6th floor for a month.

    If the specs are like Tower One they can't add any agents to the cement, but they are allowed to add ice. That void could be a chunk of ice that melted out and left a hole.
