    They're up to ~ #37 - 38 here.

About 4 or 5 more to go to get to the top (42 stories).

Thanks Lofter - Seems like they raced up to 37/38 and have just been idling height-wise since...Wonder if this top will be finished before BOFA's...

Still not a window in sight.

I really would love to know the story behind how that building to the North was not included in this parcel. The building to the North is basically boarded up! Its really bizarre.

Gee... I wonder why they only show the front and the downtown side. Any guesses?

Probably because it'll look like this...

Fom the "Project 1 Manhattan, NY" link on Leyva's site

But that ^ has some windows, which the north face of 785 does NOT.

Typical, 90% of the posts on this thread are ripping the bldg. because of a potential blank wall (which will probably be covered by a new building anyway). The real reason is the bias against new construction.

If I were to start a thread on the Pierre, everyone would be waxing poetic on the building's sheer beauty. There would never be mention of its much more prominent blank wall. I wonder why? It's old so it gets a pass. Same goes for dozens of other (usually landmarked) prewar beauties around town.

I like the building's aggressive shape. I think this will be a real stunner, but I am hoping the crap on the block has enough F.A.R. for a sliver on either corner.

I don't like the blank wall either, but give me a break.

While I agree to some degree about the over emphasis on negative elements of a building that arent completed on this and other threads, i have to say the pierres blank walls are still somewhat nice thanks to the older more textured masonry finish. i was thinking this recently actually how old buildings blank wall generally have some kind of thought into their design or are at least brick which is leagues ahead of concrete boredom.

Typical, 100% of the posts on this forum by Ashwarz are in favour of anything and everything being built in Manhattan. Everything.

Show me otherwise. I'm waiting. One post. One.

Give me a break indeed. And you know what they call one-note posters with a fixed agenda.

    ----

    For the record.

The "blank wall" of the Pierre: It contains about 150 full-sized windows. Elaborate ornamentation. Brick work. Decorative urns. And is topped by a crown. All consciously designed to cast beauty on the city.

If this is a blank wall.... please, let's have more of them:

Another Hotel Pierre clone for Ashwarz :

Of course our complaints about this crap are not sincere... no, no...not the result of taste and love for the city. Ashwarz knows the REAL reason....listen to this bait:
