If that is the kind of glass they are installing, they shouldn't get a chance to finish, they should get an order telling them to change it! To put a skin that is worthy of a building where units will cost millions and which is in a prominent location on 8th avenue in Manhattan. This looks nothing like the rendering, which I liked. This looks like crap.

Why are you speaking about the glass? Is the wrong colour or what else?Have you been there in this week?

That's good!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now it seems better, don't you think guys?
So liquid.... like water. I like it at all!

Just a question: in front of the building (I mean walking in the street above) is the glass surface really like what it is shown in these pics?? or are the pics increasing this liquid effect???

darth - the look of the glass really depends on how it is lighted (and so on the time of day)

    red-neck do it your-selfer:

If you scroll down you can see the "Head Stretcher" ... I think that's the one they walked off with:

Then you add casement windows on either side... and you are all set...

Let's listen in on their conversation...

I'm genuinely curious about this: we always say that this type of glass is cheap-looking, but is it actually (noticeably) cheaper than non-wavy glass?

And it's so distorted that you have to wonder if that was the desired effect.

Maybe the idea is to make the glass so tacky and ugly as to make the concrete wall bearable to look at as a means of relief.

    Right.

Or conversely, it's simply a distraction so nobody will notice a 40 storey concrete wall. It worked for me.

Is this concrete wall so embarassing? I mean, if you are on 8th Ave, can you feel this presence? Like being under a big tree with many branches?

    Fabrizio,

What point does pigeonholing DARTH as a mobile home dweller serve?

econ: That was not my intention, but you are right, I should have removed his name in the quote.

Question: what is happening to the left of the building? What will that be? I can see no clue in the renderings but it does seem to be part of the development.
