I was speaking of the model in the link that was posted, not about anyone specifically here. Read the post again before you go throwing out all the insults. I never implied anyone's model was an extruded square, however the one in the link appears to be just that.
Everyone shouts "ban him" just because I have an opinion about something that is important to me?
I can respect STR's post and his opinion, thank you for your intelligent rebuttal at least.
No problem and I'm sorry it wasn't worded better then.
Hello All:
I decided to join this discussion since I am the one that built that 3D mesh for sale. I know it is a touchy subject and I hesitated for a long time to put it up but decided to do so since I was getting some requests for it.
The site itself in VRML is low poly on purpose since most (?) computers will slow to a crawl trying to navigate the scene. I myself was only getting about 2 frames/sec. Now I have a faster computer but I don't know what others have.
STR, really nice work. I'll have to look at all your renders on this thread when I get a chance.
Joelio, thanks for the kind words about my wtc mesh.
^^ S'all good Al. I assume you remember me from my emails?
I hope you don't mind my using of the WTC roof from your model?
Okay, I just looked at the website with Alproject's model on it, and I can understand why arrow thought it was an extruded box - the picture looks like a grey mass because the columns look all grouped together. It is actually a very detailed model that I highly recommend.
Al, did you build the tower cores based on plans or is it just a box?
Thought i would post some updates on my model. I have been working on it for about 3 weeks now.
(There was too much reflectivness on that last render)
Would that ^^^ happen to be at ~ 5PM around the first day of Autumn?

Noon in June????
NYC time??????
The WTC plaza would have been in near-full sun at noon in summer
And the sun would not be so far west at noon![]()
My tower cores are just a box but based on plans. They just need to look OK
from the outside.
Renders on this site look awesome. It's inspiring me to continue building mine.
JC, just one thing about the roof of the towers... I do believe that there was a small gap between the slopes and the flat roof. But I don't know how to verify that.
...and just after my post I find a pic.

Looks like it was used for some sort of piping. You might also want to change the colour of your roof to something slightly yellower
Although, of course it doesn't matter too much.
