Trinity Place, looking north: the canyon where the World Trade Center, 30 Park Place and 56 Leonard are under construction at the same time

Still well over 200' to go up I'd say. They look to be working at or about the 41st floor. 5 more 'regular' ones before the mechanical floor at 46/47 and then the real favela fun starts.

Did they change the window design a bit?

Selecting window blinds for those interiors is going to be an interesting project for the interior designers and window treatment shops: the "shade store" will most likely be doing a lot of work in this building.

I see all those 'sheer curtains' in the renderings: but those do not provide much nighttime privacy, so that is not what we will be seeing once this building is occupied. There is going to be a patchwork quilt of window treatments going up there, and I hope that does not detract for the bold architectural appearance of the now building.

There was always these rectangles in the renderings but they were black-colored, not the white ones you see now.

The lighting was terrible Sunday morning but I don't like those rectangles so far.

How unfortunate, they look really cheap (not that they are).

I get this building now. This is Herzog and de Meuron's tribute to Brazil. Oscar Niemeyer meets vertical favela. Really adds to the decontextuality of it. Maybe all the Brazilians on shopping holidays in Soho will stop by and feel a little more at home here.

Flying into Newark yesterday I reckoned this to be just about level with Long Lines now which would put it at around 550'.
