Indeed, it's literally rising about a floor a month.

I wonder what the back-story is regarding the various trade contractors; is there some sort of dispute going on, or a few unqualified (but favored) sub contractors on the job. Inquiring minds need to know...

You can count on one hand the number of concrete super structure subs who are able for and willing to take this on. When I was involved it was for the concrete sub who had just finished up a small project called WTC1.
I smelled some sort of rat in the mix and left just as Leonard was at the 2nd floor...a month or two later that sub was turfed out along with their crane and dignity.

The company brought into replace them are far from slobs, in fact one could regard them as thee most qualified (Beekman, 400 Park, 99 Church, Tower 3 and the Transit Hub to name a few).

Other trades? I'm less qualified to comment. Though I'm sure Lend Lease have their favorites on this one. I just know from the initial, worst case schedules, this job will be far beyond a year late.

Insider tip: They're scheduled to pour the 55th Floor on Thursday (06.18), then start building the penthouse with it's 22.5ft ceilings. The Penthouse is expected to take about 3 weeks ('it's very detailed'). After that last will be the 'glass enclosed water tower/ring beam' which will take the building to it's final height of 821ft.

Nice looking building: very interesting shapes, and details that makes this one of my favorite. I still think, as I have said before, that all that considerable effort to create 'concave curves' on those exposed concrete floor plates was pretty much a an exercise in futility. Those slight curves on the edges of each floor slab are only discernable when you actually try to see them, and even then, too subtle to make any type of meaningful design statement: other than that slight design glitch - it is an attractive work of architecture.
