Talking The ODDFEST Comedy Show - Manhattan August 10 2006!

Metro area fans of the funny and off-beat are in for a treat this summer as The Oddfest rollicks into town. Be at Mo Pitkins House of Satisfaction (34 Avenue A, New York City, N.Y.) on Thursday, August 10th, at 10:00 p.m. to experience this hysterical comedy show. The Oddfest first made its appearance in 2003 (see http://www.theoddfest.com for highlights) and this year's show promises to be even more uproarious than the first!

Organized by FIDIM Interactive, LLC http://www.fidim.com – a record label that specializes in comedy and novelty music – The Oddfest is a celebration of comedy, music and artists that brings together some of today's funniest acts. This year's Oddfest will be hosted by Grammy® nominated singer and comedian Red Peters, host of the weekly Red Peters Comedy Music Hour on Howard Stern's Howard 101. He will be introducing popular comedy acts Sudden Death, Worm Quartet, and Joshua Grosvent.
Red Peters http://www.redpeters.com is well known as the Friday night host of the Sirius Satellite radio comedy show bearing his name. His 2004 hit I Can’t Say These Things was nominated for Song Of The Year in the 47th Annual Grammy® Awards. He also had a major holiday hit with the carnal carole Holy S***, It's Christmas! Red's songs may be heard on the radio, in films and during his public appearances.

Sudden Death http://www.suddendeath.org is the top comedy rap group today. Their hit Inner Voice from their critically acclaimed album Die Laughing topped the comedy charts in 2005, winning the title that year of Most Requested Song on the nationally-syndicated radio program The Doctor Demento Show. Sudden Death has released six albums, including 2002's wildly popular Fatal Accident Zone. Sudden Death's road show is a multimedia hip-hop experience, synchronizing video and animations into the musically comedic performances.

Worm Quartet http://www.wormquartet.com Worm Quartet creates some incredibly strange and wonderfully twisted songs. This creative and funny one-man "comedy electro-punkish band" hails from Rochester, N.Y. ShoEboX, front-man to this musical experience, penned the touching ex-girlfriend ballad Great Idea For A Song, which was the most requested song of 2004 on Dr. Demento. I Bit William Shatner, Frank's Not In The Band Anymore and others became popular comedy hits and many Worm Quartet songs are featured on Dr. Demento's compilation albums.

Joshua Grosvent http://www.thisisjoshua.com - Producer of the popular comedy show Comedy is for Humans, this self-proclaimed “Comedic Songsmith” and his songs have become a staple in the New York City humor scene. Whether he's singing about making love in Senior Citizen Lovin' or about a popular guilty private pleasure in MySpace, his shows are not worth missing. Infusing music with stand-up, improv, technology and audio effects, Joshua's road shows slay rock venues and colleges all over the country with a full-on multimedia experience. Grosvent is currently shooting his very first mini-pilot as well as his first music videos. The Oddfest will be his last appearance in New York City for several months while he tours, so get out and enjoy it!

This teeters dangerously close to ad-spam.....

Although it is an event, and some people (myself included) would probably like seeing it, it is just cut-and-pasted on here by a first time poster.

Your call Edward.

Unhappy I'm sorry, it wasn't meant as "spam"

Hello:

I'm sorry if I violated your rules. It was not my intention. I thought this was a place to submit these types of things, and so yes, I did register an account for the first time.

As far as the cut-and-paste, I'm guilty of that too. I got it down exactly as I thought it should be, and so thought I had no reason to re-word each placement.

Please accept my apologies. Don't mistake the fact that this is my first time here, with any malicious intent on my part. If you like, you can give me some guidelines to re-word the announcement and I'll gladly do so. I did read a few of the postings here, but perhaps I should have researched your site more thoroughly before making my own post.

I noted that the post for Comedian Don Worley was similar to this one, maybe not as flamboyant, but it gave the venue, time, and a link to the artist's website. If you wish I can make this release simpler, and removed the artist information. I thought it was important to let people know "who" was performing, beyond just providing their names.

Default I am interested in the long term....

I am hoping to take on more publicity things for other comedy acts, and I would like to be able to post other events here.

I'm a Queens boy who moved to Canada for love. This is as close as I can get to the City before my immigration is settled here I can always go to NY, but until I have a paper in my hand saying "Dave's a Canadian Now" they don't have to let me back in the country.

Please take pity. I will gladly become an active member of this online community, and you'll find I have things to share beyond the announcements I'd like to make.

No need to beg man. Usually when people post like it is just a cut-paste they get reported. This does not seem quite so bad, but I still set up the reply - red flag.

Your concern is appreciated, but just know that a lot of websites kind of like you to say "hi" first before you tell them what places to go to and what things to buy....

heh I was just trying to be funny about the begging, but I do appreciate what you are saying about the need to at least appear to care about what's going on in a forum before I start pushing my agenda. Good advice.

I long to be in the city again. I'm waaaaaaaaay out here in the southern interior of British Columbia, above the middle of Washington State, awaiting my Canadian-version of a green card, so I can finally travel home and see my family...

Thanks for the good word.
