Yes, and the "aid" Goldman was forced to take probably did more bad than good for the firm. However they did benefit in a major way from the AIG life support.

    Forced?

Ha! Don't be fooled. Don't forget the tax-breaks to build the HQ before GS was exposed as a band of thieves with friends in high places. Or that Hank Paulson takes care of his own.

    Paid it back???

"Let's see, stash some over here and pay out these bonuses and then say we never wanted it or needed it. Poor, put upon us. Nice view, though."

And those huge trading floors? What are they doing in there now?

LOL, taxpayers made a 26% return on Goldman. Probably the best investment ever made by the govt.

And yes, Goldman was forced. They certainly didn't need or want the money.

And the huge trading floors are more essential than ever (as they are at most investment banks). They have more traders than ever.

Do you know how Goldman operates? They are basically a huge hedge fund.

You forgot to mention the ton of Toxic Crud that GS was able to load off on us taxpayers.

They did that out of the goodness of their hearts because GS cares so much.

    Hedge this.

    Drop the basically.

I still haven't figured out how this place manages to be on both sides of every trade ...

    Default move-in expected this year

*The following information was last updated on August 21, 2009.
    • Facade work concluded in July; steel topped out in late April 2008
    • Canopy and sidewalk pavers installation on west side of tower, above pedestrian plaza through July 2009
    • Vesey Street utility work and restoration through December 2009; on West Street through August 2009; and on Murray Street through June 2010 -- all work being coordinating with SDOT
    • The tower received its official occupancy (TCO) in July 2009; move-in is expected to begin in late 2009.

The bikeway jogs to the left to accommodate the layover lane.

BPCA dropped the ball on this, repeating the same mistakes as on the east side of the WFC.

The good things here are that Vesey St is being narrowed by about two lanes, and the sidewalks are being paved with high quality granite. But who cares? 400 feet of unrelenting glass wall.

400ft of glass wall? Not good. This side of the building is so cold n bland.
