AIG Building - 70 Pine Street - by Clinton & Russell \ Holton & George
I've looked around quite a bit, and I dont see a thread on this building, which I consider to be a fantastic example of NYC architecture. The tower seems impossible from the narrow side, and the cap is stunning.
Mods/admins, forgive me if this is inappropriate for one with so few posts to start a topic, I wont be offended at all if this thread is moved or deleted if it breaks protocol here, but I thought this building deserved its own thread.

Classic, classic NYC architecture.
Its probably the nicest tower in the financial district and it will be for a long time. Woolworth is nicer, but not by much. Midtown has the ESB and Chrysler as their one-two punch in the skyline. Downtown has 70 Pine and 40 Wall st as its own one-two punch.
For some reason it does not get the praise it deserves. Thank you for bringing it into our attention so that we can appreciate it even more
Couldnt agree more. It really shapes the downtown skyline with its narrow peak and sharp spire. This building is really representative of NYC to me in general. It's beautiful, and its age gives it a bit of grittiness that adds to its charm.Originally Posted by TREPYE

One of my favourites. It doesnt get enough praise in my opinion. One of the most Gotham towers.
Agreed - this tower is awesome. It steals the show as seen from Brooklyn, IMO.
