Certainly no lack of 500-600 footers. But this is just filler material. Hopefully the two taller (officially approved) towers will get built.

The new design of 111 South Wacker: (48-50 floors, still about 640 ft.) Height still subject to change. . .

^^^ Disappointing. The original design was much better IMO. The design was changed because of the (perception) that it wasn't safe enough. Think 9/11. . . Here it is:

Hyatt Center (Pritzker Tower) 690ft. / 48 st. Another dissapointing design:

"But it was insinuated that perhaps an ornament across the top might materialize some day.... " - Charles Shaw

The Heritage at Millennium Park 621 ft. / 57 st.

    Trump Tower Chicago *1,125ft / * * 86st

    111 W. Wacker Drive * * 867ft */ * *69st.

    111 W. Wacker Drive *is a necessity.
We need it to overshadow Bofill's monstrosity.

    Very dull and conservative.

Alteast here I dont need to be biased. New York's latest crop is far better. I fear the midwest is stuck with Postmodernism for awhile, but PostModern is somehow fitting for those cities. Trump Tower Chicago is very interesting, I wonder if it will be built?

Trump Tower has great siting on the Chicago River like that.

    Agreed.

    Hyatt Center:

I usually stick to the New York threads at skyscraperpage. But I took special attention to the Hyatt Center. Foster futurism, with a structural modernism best fits Chicago. And this is a huge loss for them, the Cobb design is a filler, far too conservative. And this is from the Pritzker family, how should they be able to judge anything.

Im only interested in the area of the building, in square feet. Im sure its well over 2 million.

It looks like a bastardized Sears Tower. What a waste.

This beautiful building needs a pair of spires, or antennas. This is Chicago, the city of Sears, John Hancock, 7SD... why not respect the tradition ?
