Asking for someone on my forum, does anyone know anything about this shop, I think I sort of remember the El Eggo...
----------
There was (in the middle-seventies) a shop on that odd little corner of Sixth Avenue, between Canal Street and York Street, with a pseudo-surrrealist fresco painted on the façade, entitled The Birth of El Eggo. There was a large apothecary's balance displayed in the window, but there was no sign of activity and no furnishings, so that the shop must have housed a studio. There were several grotesque faces lying on the bare boards inside, obviously rescued from a demolished house or building. If anyone remembers this, or has any idea what the shop was, or what the enigmatic fresco alluded to?
