Nestled amongst the 19th-century brownstones of Murray Hill in New York City, N.Y., the Affinia Shelburne Hotel is a pre-war Art Deco building within three blocks of Fifth Avenue shopping and four blocks from Grand Central Station. The Empire State Building is seven blocks from the hotel.

The traditional European-style Affinia Shelburne Hotel (formerly the Shelburne Murray Hill) was built in 1929. The Rare Bar and Grill is dressed in deep reds and khaki, with exposed brick walls, a solid oak bar and offers gourmet burgers made from ingredients such as shrimp and crab, barbequed pork and vegetables, with toppings including grilled Portobello mushrooms, caramelized onions and chili ketchup. The Rare View rooftop bar offers views of the Empire State Building and the Manhattan skyline from a rooftop garden. Cocktails are served here during the summer months.
